8 ways

to supercharge your fat loss

1.Exercise on an empty stomach, if possible.  This mobilizes stored fat to fuel your workout, so you’re cutting into that belly fat sooner.  This is best done first thing in the morning.  If you exercise more than an hour or two after waking you’ll have to eat something first to avoid fainting or lightheadedness.  If you eat a main meal, try to wait at least an hour before you exercise.

2.Eat a protein rich meal or snack within 30 minutes after your workout.   Your muscles are starving for nourishment then, and they will gobble up the nutrients that help them rebuild and get stronger.

3.Drink plenty of water.  I know, you hear this all the time. The truth is that all of the body’s normal processes are dependent on adequate hydration, including fat burning and weight loss.  The general rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces each day.  If you are working out vigorously, hydrate at least twenty percent more.

4.Eat more often.  Five to six feedings per day (3 meals, plus 2-3 snacks) provide the fuel your body needs to raise its metabolism and burn up fat.  Snacks should be in the 80-100 calorie range and should have at least 8 grams of protein (see Dr. Roy’s recipe for incredibly delicious “Powerhouse” cakes).

5.Replace one meal per day with a protein shake and a piece of fruit.  Doing this ensures that your body is getting adequate protein to build and maintain all the new muscle that’s replacing your disappearing fat.  It’s also a way to cut some calories from your daily intake yet still have a meal that fills you and keeps you satisfied until snack time—just one more way to burn a little extra fat.

6.AM Detox.  This cleans the fat out of your liver, which is a very important step in burning the fat off your belly, arms, thighs, etc.

*steep the juice of ¼ lemon in a tall glass of hot water.  Add a pinch of cayenne pepper, stir, and drink down quickly while the liquid remains warm.

7.PM Detox.  This clears the accumulated toxins out of your colon so your system can continue to clean itself and is able to metabolize fat better.

*mix 1 tbsp. of a bulk fiber laxative in a tall glass of unsweetened cranberry or pomegranate juice and drink quickly.

8.Get adequate sleep.  This is a very important component of your weight-loss program.  Sleep is like water.  It is absolutely essential for our bodies to maintain a normal metabolism, and most of us don’t get enough of it.  Your body can’t burn up the fat as effectively if it is fatigued.  And, if you are overtired you will either not work out as vigorously as you could, or you’ll skip that workout entirely.
